Details of the Classes:
All students meet at the cafeteria after school. Elementary teachers walk the students to the cafeteria. The assigned coaches will pick up the students and go to the classroom to have the lesson on Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesday the students stay in the cafeteria for the chess tournament.
Tuesday: In-house mock Tournament 3:25-4:25pm
Students are grouped in sections appropriate to their level and rating. Only for students that know how to play chess and checkmate. Students play one round per week. At the end of every 5 weeks, awards are presented to the top 3 players in each section. Great way to learn all tournament rules and setup for the rated tournaments.
Wednesday: Lesson will be in person 3:25-4:25pm
Beginner and intermediate lessons are offered for Kinder to 3rd grade students. Students are divided into groups based on their skill level and assigned a coach for the entire semester. If your rating is 400 plus you should join the Friday Class.
Friday: Lesson will be in person 3:25-4:25pm
Beginner, intermediate and advanced classes are offered for K-8th grade students. Students are divided into groups based on their skill level.
We included K-3 beginners on Friday, since we have more coaches available on Friday's and it helps with sibling pick up.
